Getting Married Abroad

With winter upon us many of you will be thinking sunshine thoughts. Weddings abroad are increasing because of guaranteed sunshine. There are a few things to think about before jetting off to the sunshine though.

If you burn easily in the sun avoid stripping off as soon as you get to your destination. The last thing you want is sunburn on your wedding day! Invest in a really good suncream with a minimum SPF15. Build up your sun exposure in short bursts.

Think about strap marks! Having a lovely strapless dress with tan lines in your wedding photos isn’t the best look.

Give your face and body an all over exfoliation before you leave the UK. Skin looks better when its hydrated. There are lots of face and body products on the market.

If you opt for a fake tan before you arrive. Remember that the chlorine in the swimming pool will make it go streaky and having a fake tan doesn’t mean you have protection against the sun’s rays. Always do a test fake tan you don’t want it to go wrong!

Take care of your hair. Have it trimmed regularly and use a deep conditioning masque before going away. The sun can be so drying on hair.

Here are some Top Tips from weddingsabroad.com they are specialists in international weddings!

Weddings Abroad – Consider the following:

Dress – It’s best to use a wedding dress that does not have too many layers or artificial fabric if your chosen destination is hot! Choose your shoes carefully too.

Budget – Always check and double check the small print to ensure all essential services are covered including legal fees and document charges – you don’t want any last minute surprises for additional costs.

Guests – Choose your guest list carefully.  Decide who you want at your ceremony, remember these people will also be on your holiday!

Climate – Check out the weather carefully for your wedding destination, especially hurricane season!  Beware of getting married in the midday sun, instead opt for a later ceremony.

Glowing – Beware if sunbathing prior to your wedding, you don’t want strap marks if you are wearing a strapless gown.  Also don’t forget the sunscreen on your nose, the Rudolph look is not good on the wedding photos.

DIY Bridal Make Up – Good or Bad?

I have noticed the rise in the number of brides that have decided to do their own make up for their wedding day. I know its what i do professionally but i wanted to point out that once your wedding day is over you have to live with the images forever. I never make anyone look like someone else. I only do a brides make up after a thorough consultation.

My guide is always to enhance what someone already has. If you normally wear very little make up i will make you look very natural but flawless. Your wedding day is special and you should look special too.

Things to consider?

  • Does your normal make up last for 12 hours without retouching?
  • Do you know how to contour the shape of your face?
  • Can you make your lips even in shape and length?
  • Does your foundation leave a stripe around your jawline?
  • Can you lengthen you lashes using just mascara?

A make up artist will have the skills needed to avoid these things. The last thing you want to worry about on your wedding day is how your make up looks!

Some brides are very capable of doing their own make up and i’m not saying they shouldn’t. If you would like to do your own but need help then consider a make up lesson.

I would love to hear from you if you did your own make up and if you’re happy with the images! I would also like to hear from you if you regret doing your own make up!

Getting The Most From Your Bridal Make Up

They don’t call it your ‘big day’ for nothing so you need to look your absolute best – for most brides to be it’s a military operation so get planning – early!

My top tip would be to create a countdown diary for getting everything ready for the big day- that way you can get your ideas down on paper and work out a beauty and pampering schedule – taking the stress out of the situation.

Step 1 – Choosing the right make up artist

Start thinking about your make up 6 months before your wedding day and choose your make up artist for the big day – make sure you research this properly and get a good feel from them – after all, they will be with you right up to the vows!

Browse through magazines and search the internet for ideas, bear in mind these will only be ideas and the make up artist will give you the best advice for the day.

Step 2 – Creating the canvas

To really hydrate and soothe the skin start having facials regularly every 4 to 6 weeks, starting about 3 months before. Beautiful, clear skin is the blank canvas for great make up. If your budget doesn’t allow for this then try to do DIY versions at home, choosing the right products for your skin type. Good skin will look gorgeous in the wedding photos and your make up will look perfect on the big day.

Step 3 – The trial…

It’s best to have your trial run of hair and make up about 6 weeks prior to the wedding. Tell your make up artist the colours that you have chosen for your wedding theme so that it all ties in. If you’re not used to wearing a lot of make up tell your make up artist because you still want to look like yourself on the big day – just a more fabulous version!

Book the time of arrival for the make up artist and let her know where you’ll be on the day of the wedding. If you’re not having a make up artist book a make up lesson and continue practising the look at home and ask the person giving you the lesson to write everything down for you. Get a friend to take pictures so that you can see what it will look like on the day. Always take a mirror outside to check the look, indoor lighting can have a yellowing effect on the colours. If you’re doing your own make up ensure you apply a bit more than usual for photographic reasons and don’t apply too much shimmer as the flash will pick up on this more.

Bridal make up is individual and unique to every bride – there are no hard and fast rules but do try to be yourself and feel comfortable with what you choose for your look on the day.

Have your final facial at least 1 week before the wedding so that it brings any impurities to the surface and allows time for any blemishes to calm down on the skins surface – and get your eyebrows shaped by a professional to frame your face.

On your wedding day wear a button down top, shirt or bath robe so that it doesn’t ruin your hair and make up when you take it off. Ask your chief bridesmaid to keep your lipstick/lipgloss in their bag and carry some powder and blotting papers for touch ups.

Now you’re ready to walk down the aisle feeling beautiful.

Fushi’s New Bride And Beautiful Essential Wedding Kit

It’s not just a certain bride-to-be who’s going to want to be looking her very best on her big day when all eyes are upon her. Okay, it might not be the eyes of the world, and okay, not every bride is going to have the pick of the very best of experts to make sure everything is perfect.

Every bride does have access to Fushi’s new Bride and Beautiful Essential Wedding Kit, with complete with tried and tested remedies for glowing skin, healthy hair and even something to manage the hissy fits, so that you can positively shine on your big day.

And, since most brides want to lose a few inches before the wedding and certainly before their honeymoon, Fushi also offers something that not only boosts weight loss, but also gives energy levels a welcome boost.

The products in the kit are:

Monochrome Gift Box
Beauty Totale 60 caps
Lemon Balm & Lavender Herbal Drink 230 ml
Organic Argan oil 100 ml
Total Body Slim Complex 90 caps
A4 Age reverse Enzyme Peel 30 sachets

FUSHI’S TOTAL BODY SLIM COMPLEX is designed to complement a sensible weight loss programme. Take  At least 1 month before.

A4 ENZYME PEELING POWDER is the bride’s essential for an even complexion and fresher looking skin.  Recommended to use 1 sachet a week and start using six weeks before the big day.

BEAUTY TOTALE, an advanced skin, hair and nails nutriceutical complex with 24 very essential nutrients. Recommended to start using 1 month before D Day.

MOROCCAN ARGAN OIL, is a renowned beauty oil with outstandingly intensive moisturising effects for smoother, youthful skin and nourished hair that’s glossy and in peak condition for any styling. Start using 1 month before, massaging into skin and hair three times a week.

LEMON BALM and LAVENDER HERBAL DRINK calms the nerves and relaxes the senses.

I have been using the ‘Moroccan Argan Oil’ and taking ‘Fushi’s Total Body Slim Complex’ for the last 2 weeks.

I love the Argan oil and its really made a dramatic difference to my hair. Its softer and more manageable. It says to use it 3 times and week and that is enough. I have used it on my face and its too oily for me because I have very oily skin. I am using it on my décolleté though to give that area a boost and keep it supple. Its amazing. You need such a small amount so a little goes  long way! I really recommend this product.

I’m not very good at taking pills but I decided to give these a try. I have lost a bit of weight and my clothes are fitting better. You do need to think about what you eat too. Taking these is not substitute for bad eating habits. The pills are capsule shaped and you need to take them with water and food 3 times daily.

The ‘Bride and Beautiful’ kit can be purchased from Fushi or at selected Waitrose, Ocado, Daylesford Organic

Bridal Hair and Make Up Trends for 2011

The look for 2011 is flawless skin. To achieve this I recommended a series of salon facials to get skin to its optimum hydration with weekly exfoliation at home in between treatments. Most salons offer consultations so you can get advice on what type of facial would suit your skin type! If the products you’re using now aren’t giving you the desired results then discuss this with your skin therapist during the consultation. Its important to prepare hair and skin for the wedding day. The photos will show how great the condition of how your skin and hair are. If you’re unsure always seek advice. A salon therapist or hairstylist will be qualified to give the best advice. Images give ideas of styles but sometimes hair pieces or extensions are needed to get the desired look.

Make up will only look as good as the skin it’s on. A great skin gives the perfect blank canvas for the make up artist to apply her base to. The bridal make up look for 2011 is a natural or nude eyes with lashings of mascara or eyelash extensions. Lip colour is going to be big this year too. If you want to add colour to your eyes then go for pastels that can range from very pale to vibrant. Strong eyes go with neutral or pale lips and neutral eyes go with stronger lip colours. For lip staying power colour the entire lip in with a matching lip pencil and add your lipstick or gloss over the top.

Vintage glamour is big this year too! The vintage style will go with the whole vintage wedding theme it might look out of place otherwise. 1940’s and 1950’s are a great look for this with red hot lips and long lashes being the key to achieving this style.

Hair styles for this year are varied. The messy updo is still in and so is the bouffant chignon. The natural look with loose bouncy curls is also in. The chosen style will all depend on the overall look that the bride wants to achieve. For vintage glamour large finger waves are to die for. Book regular trims if you’re growing your hair.

The groom should also have skincare treatments to get skin glowing. Men’s hands usually get forgotten and need to be manicured for the big day. Clean smooth hands with filed nails and soft cuticles will make all the difference to the wedding photos! Get short hair cut a couple of days before so that the cut settles into shape! Longer hair should be trimmed no later than two weeks prior to the wedding day. Don’t over do the hair styling products, the hedgehog look went out In the 80’s.
